Essential Questions

The top three EQS that i chose are how to make transportation more elderly friendly, What types of activities should the elderly engage in and how to make ageing a blessing?
3rd: What types of activities should the elderly engage in.
Explanation: I chose the third one, because nowadays elderly are always at home and not engage in any activities. With this question, we can find out activities that will help to enrich the elderly life.
2nd: How to make ageing a blessing.
Explanation: Ageing for most people is a fear, if we can think of a way to make ageing a blessing, the people will feel more inclined and fearless about ageing.
1st: How to make transportation more elderly friendly.
Explanation: This question is actually a important one, because for every elderly, they will always have to travel around the place or country. If we can make travelling more elderly friendly, this will be a huge benefit to many many people.

Elderly Challenge- observation 3

When i went around my neighborhood, i saw this trio of elderly burning incessant paper. There are a couple of things we can learn from this. First is that the elderly still believe in old believe and thus they are still burning incessant paper just like when they were younger. Second is that it shows that the elderly can also become friends through the same believes and also the same type of interest.

Hoilday Homework part 1

  • Explain in your own words, the FOUR key recommendations of the report.
1. The first recommendation is making the housing for the elderly a place where it is more elderly-friendly and also a place where it allows the elderly to live as a part of the family and the committee.
2. The second recommendation is making the home, flats, building and the whole environment of Singapore accessible for the elderly so that the older person can integrate with the wider community and lead active life.
3. The third recommendation is to care for the elderly by providing efficient, cost-effective and easy access to health care and elderly service, so that older Singaporeans will have seamless access to these services
4. The fourth recommendation is giving the older Singaporeans opportunities to fulfill relationship within their family and also to lead a healthy lifestyle.
  • State ONE way that the CAI report is recommending to make our public housing more elderly-friendly
1.They are recommending HDB to provide more rental housing options for seniors, by exploring the lease of its vacant flats to voluntary welfare organisations (VWOs), to cater to seniors who may prefer to rent rather than buy, or who need to downgrade from their existing flats.
  • State TWO ways on how we can ensure that the quality of elderly care here in Singapore is affordable
1. We can do so by being the primary care-giving unit and the bedrock of support for seniors.
2. We can do so by Topping up Medisave accounts of less well-off Singaporeans when there are budget surpluses.
  • After reading the CAI report, what do you are the THREE things that you can do, as an SST student, to help overcome these elderly challenges
1. I can always take care of my grandparents and parents when they are in need, so that they will not have so much difficulty in doing their daily activity.
2. I can help out other elderly living around my neighborhood, whenever they are in need of help so that i can not only have a good relationship with my neighbour, i can also make their life easier
3. I can organize events for my parents, grandparents and also their friends so that they can bond together.

Elderly Challenge- observation 2

Today i observed my Grandmother and at the time i observed her, she was knitting while watching her television. I think that for her to knit is actually a good thing because it can help to stimulate the mind. Watching the television also is good, because it could help to get rid of the boredom of staying at home everyday, the elderly should also sit further from the television to prevent eye damage.

Elderly Challenge - Observation 1

Today, i went to observe on the elderly around my neighbourhood and these are the few observations i made
- most of them were carrying plastic bags or doing an errand. This shows that most of the elderly only go out to accomplish a task.
- In the parks around my house, the elderly were not often seen, this also shows that the elderly do not or seldom go out to take a walk around the neighbourhood.
- When we do see the elderly, they are usually walking alone and not with friends.
Suggestions?
-Perhaps there could be more events to make them more closer to each other, so that they can interact with each other and also go outdoors once in a while with their friends.

Conserving water resources in Singapore

Singapore is a very small country with a large urban population, so to get the fresh water that the country needs is a very tall order. Luckily our government is up to the task of getting the water the country needs. So to conserve water is very important in order to have enough water for the country. How do we do this? Well we can do our part by making sure that there is no leaks in the house and if we do spot leaks whether be it in the house or in the public restroom, we should immediately contact the people in charge of the place to fix it. This way there will be very little water wastage. We can also shower for a shorter period of time. Our government way of conserving water is by the recycling our waste water, into clean water.

ADMT-Environment

1. ADMT to me means making a product through designing, technology and using media to showcase the product.
2.ADMT is important, because it changes our world with the use of it. It helps to create new products that will become useful in our everyday life. Without it, our life would still be like the olden days.
3.I want to learn how to sketch, build and design a product by myself.
